Lock your bike - with kryptonite

I'd always prank couriers who would 'lean' lock (ie not to a fixed object) by hiding their bikes. They'd love that gag. Coming out of the building and not seeing your bike gets your motor running.

In London there were white vans swooping on lean locked bikes like pulling daisies from a field.

In NYC it's even worse.

Hence, this was my setup for locking my bike in New York. The biggest baddest padlock on the market, and chain to pair it with. This weighed 4kg.

Not working in NYC a year later I decided to get a Kryptonite U-lock. Lighter, smaller and backed up with an anti-theft protection of up to USD$2000.

Just recently someone asked me 'did you bring back that nice ladies bike from NYC'

Here's the last picture of her I have.

Locked to a pole outside my hotel, which has a doorman 20 hours of the day, 375 days a year. If you live in Vancouver you'd know to always check your pole before you lock to as many weren't fixed to the ground.

And she was never to be seen again.

So I emailed Kryptonite, and true to their anti-theft protection they came good, AND upgraded my lock to the NEW YORK FAHGETTABOUTIT lock.
