New Zealands approach to sharing the road.

http://www.jonco48.com/blog/hummer_20_20vs_20bus.jpg

Darwinism.

Every day I have to ride past the place where 5 young kids lost their lives, or one took another 4.

There are flowers, and RIP BOYS graffitied all over the road.Phrases 'not forgotten' cover the fences.

They will be though.

Forgotten. Never to leave another mark on the earth.  Wasted lives.  Live fast.  Die young.

Too quickly will this accident disappear from the social conscious, ready for the next batch of new drivers to make the same mistakes.

All I can think of is how lucky it was another vehicle (cyclist) was not on the road at the time.  Unlike Amy Gillet who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Turns out the funeral was just as an uneasy place to be.

Drunk driver causes havoc at crash funeral

Sorry for the shaky slant to the post but life on the road isn't all blue skies.

Flattened.

One of my favourite things in the world is reconnecting with friends in foreign lands.

Andrea, who I met in Tokyo rode with some Internationals from Suisse, France and Germany spent 10 days cruising their way from Sydney to Melburn.

'We thought Australia was flat!!!'

We chatted about the ride, the scenery, gear inches (they opted for 80+ which blew out Patricks knee by the end), and the unforgettable moments of the journey.

I stole these images from Milano Fixed and Andrea's facebook of his correspondance about the land with crazy animals, beautiful beaches, a hot sun, generous locals and hills....

Andrea is an assistant fashion photographer, and when asked how he deals with the pressures of exotic locations, beautiful women, scantily clad he replied 'It's my job.'

Bravo!

Unlike Jens, he lets his legs do the talking.

Andrea is also his own tattoist.

The FLAT OUT crew of Andrea, Heinrik, Patrick and Piere were at the opening of Saint Cloud @ 73 Gertrude, Fitz which apart from stocking local BREV FYXOMATOSIS goods, will also be the place to pick up a GOrilla track frame.

New Years Resolutions.

Mine was to ride more - but after jumping on the scales and weighing EXACTLY the same as Big Al I need to cut back on the Nutella.

What is he listening to?

DOHERTYS CITY GYM - They NEVER close.

Collective term for bicycles.

A Murder of Crows, a Mob of Kangaroos, a Pack of galahs, a Shrewdness of apes, a Flange of baboons, a Cast of crabs.

But what of bicycles?

Suggestions in the comments.

Same Same but Different.

MEZZO.  Oysters name has changed, the pork belly and other brilliant dishes still on the menu.

I'm off on a DIRTY 3 day tour.  Back Wednesday with more reasons to get out and ride, like Boy George resplendant in the Natonal Champions kit at TDU.

Ride safe.
