Twice as much Hell

The predicated spring classic weather never eventuated, and the field of the 2008 Melburn Roobaix was spoilt with glorious sunshine and only a slight breeze.

236 riders set off from Fed Square in a controlled manner as the ride was unhitched by The Boss.

Riders reached the first control point and had to make the decision - Lead or Follow! The first checkpoint being either Richmond OR South Melbourne.

Two courses of Hell served up to the huge field, both with unique pave, challenges and Cafe's of their own.

'P' on the map indicates start of PAVE sectors.

South Melbourne route (24.3km)

Richmond route (23.5km)

The team car arrvied a Roobaix just in time to see the first rider enter the famed Brunswick Velodrome for a lap of glory.

Without worrying too much about who rolled into Roobaix first (it's a ride - not a race), we did get these snaps of Matt (2008 Cannonballer), and some of the real winners of the day with their prizes.

Once the entire field had gathered, swapped stories and routes, it was time to hit the showers at Hotel Lomond for the prize raffle.

Over 30 prizes worth over a total of $3000 were up for grabs!

Some of the goodies from our long list of pave-pounding sponsors.
