Give her a break!

NO gold medal is worthing winning unless the best in the world are racing.

Who's knows if will all boil down to this, but we want you, fair reader to get on Anna's side and help get her to Beijing.

We're all familiar with the comeback story of one-nut and his subsequent dominance of the worlds most beautiful race.

Let's make sure Anna Meares has her chance to make history again in Beijing.

Here's the lowdown of the ups and downs from the World Champion/World Record holder/top gal - who is on the road to recover/Beijing after breaking her neck.

One of the downs I experienced was the clarification of Olympic qualifying.

Our perception of position qualifying was very different to what we thought.

Previously, World Champ, World cup leader and B world champ plus the top nine on points. If world champ etc come from top 9 then position 10 and 11 etc open respectively. Not so.

The rules are. If for example Vicky from GBR wins the world title and is also in the top 9, then GBR is offered two positions. Only if they decline the 2nd position does it get offered to next in line position 10. So we hope to either remain in the top nine or have Natalia, who is the only sprinter from Belarus to win as this would pretty much guarentee a spot being offered to position 10 which is where we thought I would finish until we heard the results of the copenhagen world cup.

Hope this isnt confusing anyone.

I was so anxious and couldn't sit still waiting for the results. The two girls who needed to gain points to bump me out of top nine didn't gain any which is great news for me. Now they need to get 2nd and 5th respectively to get to the games and considering the best result they have had is 9th then Marv is confident I will stay in... But you never know so keep everything crossed.

Willy Kanis of Netherlands won the world cup title and she is in the top nine. So she is going to the games as is a second sprinter from the netherlands. I am currently sitting 8th and looking good for top 9 finish.

Well I hope you have enjoyed this email and it isnt too hard to understand. Very technical and complicated this olympic qualifying.

I was also asked to write my own enty for the Sunday mail down here and I got 2 full pages. The article was very good and they didnt change much to what I wrote.  Mark and I also went to the cricket on Sunday. Australia v India. Was ok... Very hot day and I would of loved to see a bit more big hitting but it was good all the same.

Hope everyone is well

It's all greek to us too - but we're asking YOU fair reader to

post your comments/support below

and hopefully, one way or another we'll get to see her race.

Your first line sums it all up... "NO gold medal is worthing winning unless the best in the world are racing"

Ridiculous to think she wont be there.

The Olympics is about watching the best against the best. Surely the rules are in place to ensure that a fair selection can be made where there's a "line ball call". A special consideration should always be available where a compe****or has A. an UNAVOIDABLE reason for not being at top form during selection e.g. serious health issue like a broken neck and B. is clearly head and shoulders above the last (12th) person in. Check her times and let her in! - But make sure she brings that note from the doc to make sure she wasn't faking all that wheel chair stuff. (Remember Jana?)
