Couriers/Messengers: Give racing a go!


It's one thing to win an alleycat or three, but a long way from winning the Australian Road Championships... but you've got to start somewhere - and that somewhere is usually D grade.


The ride of his life

Five years ago McDonald was working as a bike courier in the Sydney CBD when his colleagues suggested he give racing a try.

“I gave it a go and before long I had a team and started racing professionally.”

After winning the Australian title on the weekend, McDonald was offered a spot on the composite UniSA national team to compete in the Tour Down Under against the likes of Lance Armstrong.

He declined the offer, however, and decided to follow the team’s original plans of riding in the Tour of Wellington in New Zealand at the end of the month.

“It was as much the team’s win as it was mine, so I will only ride in the Tour Down Under if my whole team can ride as well,” he said.

My little brother asked if Lance Armstong is on drugs.

'I can tell you right now, he is defiinitely on drugs - Caffeine for one'

Mofo knows it takes twice as much training, and 10 times the dedication and sacrifice to win when you're competing against guys on drugs.

As Lance prepares to win again, Mofo will be aiming to go one better at Mr Universe this year in Germany.


Very few people, probably only Lance himself train harder. 

Lance would make a great personal trainer too.
