I don't know Keirin, but I know Karazy!
5 people in the world have cracked the elusive 10 second barrier for 200m.
ON A BICYCLE.
An average of 72.5kph... A speed I'm happy to reach coming DOWN Col D'Kinglake.
Karazy.
Equally karazy is the geometry on this custom 3Rensho made for Gary Neiwands third and final season on the International Keirin circuit.
Few internationals have won the series. Gary won it three times.
Even though Gary supplied the measurements to Yoshi Konno, the resulting frame was too big. He rode it anyway and still won.
DH remembers an article in Bicycling Australia with a picture of this bike 10 years ago. The article remrking how Gary used to apply fake tan to give the impression he'd been riding/t.t.t.raining a lot. A principle adopted still in Melburn.
When I asked the V-train what events he was enteres in for the Masters championships the first thing he mentioned was coming up against his childhood hero in the match sprints. Neiwand.
An Australian cyling legend, and a legendary Keirin frame builder fused.
I felt compelled to build this up FULLY NJS, and take it to the beach!
So where can you get a new, uncrashed, keirin track frame - especially if you want something bigger than a 56cm?
Another cycling legend is making her way to Beijing just months after breaking her neck!
From the former world champ - which it took a broken neck to slow her down.
Hi Everyone
At 4am this morning I was wide awake and watching the live feed of the Womens sprint competition in Manchester.
Mark satyed awake to watch with me round one which saw the clock tick over 2am. As he had to work the next day
he went to bed and I moved downstairs to continue watching. Round one saw one of my competitors Svetlana
Grankovskya elminated by German rider Christian Muche. Mark and I were so happy! One down one to go. Which yes
does sound horrible.... sorry Svetlana.
I stayed awake waiting for Round two which saw my last rival Lulu Zheng compete against her fellow country woman Shaung
Guo and was defeated but had a chance to come back in the repecharge. She was up against Dutch rider Yvonne Higenaar
and Germany's Christian Muche.
I was so nervous fidgeting and sweating. The race got under way and it was a drag race all the way. Yvonne had worked
hard with Lulu on her outside and Muche behind her but pulled out something special in the last bend and rode clear for
the win progressing to the quarter finals and eliminating Lulu to the 9-12 finals.
I'M GOING TO THE OLYMPICS! AAAHHHHH!!!!!
unofficially ofcourse. The UCI will make official announcement of all qualifiers once the competition has finished.
I saw the finish and rugged up on the couch I raised both my hands and the biggest smile came over my face which turned
quickly into tears which fell for a long time. I think it was a release of all the pressure, anxiety and stress of the
past few months and the sheer happiness I was feeling. I was so incredibly happy. STILL AM!
After the race Marv called me. I was so happy I had to talk through tears. He said if there wasnt a camera in his face he
would be cryin aswell. I got passed around the team and spoke to a few people before saying good bye. They have all been egerly
awaiting the results like I was and were very happy I made it!
I rang my mum to tell her I was in and cried some more. I text my family and close friends and went to bed to try get some sleep.
I lay awake for a long time and slept in today.
After 2.5 months of uncertainty facing my future and the many ups and downs I have experienced, I finally have certainty in the direction I am heading. Full steam ahead to Beijing! Now comes the next phase, training very hard to be in the best physical condition by August.
I want to say a very BIG thank you to all of you, that have gotten behind me and encouraged me to keep on keeping on.
To those who have shared their own stories of accidents and recoveries that have inspired me, thank you. To my sponsors for
never doubting me, thank you. To my family who have been amazing through this, thank you. To Mark who has looked after me
when I couldn't myself and put up with me these past few months knowing the stress of the situation I am in and how I have been feeling. Watching and not being able to do anything must have been hard but he has been my rock! He has got me through. Pulled me up when I started to doubt, he never let me fall! Thank you

No Leathers. WORD. You can acquire the same damage on a SCOOTER ('Specially if he's had a bad day! sic). Gorgeous girls on scooters make my day, but not when they look like THAT.

No Leathers A.K.A. Frankston Leathers: what a steroid abuser wears when riding his (almost always) monster road bike - tracky daks and muscle singlet.
