Technicallly it hasn't been quite a year since the last 'Hell of the Northcote' but close enough.


With the actual Roubaix race just as close, and Le Tour around the bend it's an exciting time of the year.



MELBURN ROOBAIX 2008


Ride whatever you like - this is not a 'fixed' event. It's all about the pain, suffering and good times.


Gear up, roll to Fed Sq at 11.30am with bike, musette and $10.



Bring your domestique's or ride solo and get ready for a good laugh on your bike as Melburn Roobaix takes you through Hell, around Brunswick Velodrome and 'to the showers' for the third year running.

Lucas Brunelle's Lamborghini.

This shot was taken pre-All about the Benjamins race which as far as races go was about as 'core as they get.

$100 entry - winner took all.

No prizes for guessing that the maddest man in NYC on two wheels, and often one blitzed the field.

Lucas, who was in pursuit of Felipe - blindly blitzed an intersection and got scopped up by a delivery van. Concussion and a snapped frame the result - which could have easily been worse.




Before there was M*A*S*H SF, Lucas Brunelle was throwing up great prizes for Alleycats, luring riders from far and wide so he could capture it on film.

Such an event was held when I was in San Francisco.

Lucas's footage is mostly of one of the coolest guns o' the West, James Newman. James is as handy on track bike as he is on a road bike/cyclocrosser/whatever before you think that all couriers ride fixed-wheels.

The low flying RED blur is another M*A*S*Her - Demarco.

I love the handshake at the end between JN and Super Mike - who is a living courier legend and has fine taste in italian steel.

Where was I? Trying to ride up a mad grade to the Haight cause I didn't know The Wiggle.
