Thailand: Travel Tips
During my weeks back ON the bike I was given a fresh taste of just how dangerous things can be - in Melburn.
Kyle picked up a beautiful Daccordi from us a short while ago was recently involved in an accident. With a truck.

The truck clearly won, but Kyle is only down - not out.
He is still walking, and patiently waiting for the right time to ride again.
Amen to the cycling god looking over us.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, though I'm not sure if this is bad news or good news. But anyway, I was hit by a truck while riding the Daccordi two weeks ago. It is strange that one of the first things that came to my mind in the hospital was our conversation about how many irreplacable track bikes are being beaten to death on the streats right now.
I'm ok. Or at least I will be. I got a compression fracture on the T8 and T9 vertebrate. The fracture is on the front and away from the spinal cord and two orthopedic surgeons have told me that it will heal just fine in a few months. I'm spending most of my time on my back right now but I can move around with a brace on.
They said I should be able to go back to teaching by the end of the month and that I should be able to ride by the end of summer if everything goes well. No surgery needed (always good to hear that coming from a surgeon).. I'm not holding out too much hope on riding again. That way it'll be that much more exciting when I do.
The bike took most of the impact and saved me from the worst. The truck hit the back wheel and snapped the chain and seat stays as well as destroying the wheel.
I hate to see it go. I really enjoyed riding it and was looking forward to racing back in atlanta.
Anyway, I thought I should let you know.

One of the last photos is how I should have looked post-accident. Strapped down and secure.
