We are pleased to announce that in the coming months, we'll be adding regular updates from one of Australia's premier bicycle craftsman.

Darrell McCulloch.

You'd better invest in a keyboard shield for the additions of 'Llewellyn's Lathe' are likely to have you drooling like a babe.

Tales of workshop battles, cycling history, inspiration all boiled down and blended with imagery capturing the essence of man and machine.

Here's a whiff of what is to come.

For those who thought Nervex lugs were pretty 'fancy'.

Lorne 'Ace' Atkinson told me it took him a whole winter to file his lugs into ornate objects of velo-jewellery.

Imagine how long these gems take to create!

I love the clangin' of the tram bell before it rushes past.
So Melburn.
So Smooth.
So wear a helmet!

For those who love speed metal, and steel at full speed.

Four Horsemen

I don't endorse this flagrant disregard for road rules, but for Youtube's sake it's all fair game.

A brilliant quad-spliced clip!

There was a time when there were few faster at crossing town than I.

As far as Alleycat palmares go, mine is up there (not including all the races I've been dudded out of). I've raced in Melburn, Sydney, Vancouver, New York, San Francisco, London, Portland, Montreal, Edmonton.

I tip my hat to those faster, luckier or perhaps who rode riskier lines and got there before me.

The most epic Alleycat was easily the evil 80km (Lucas Brunelle sporting a black eye from being hit by a van the day previous). It was Hellawindy that day also.

The most spectacular was the Montreal course which included parts of the city that the Cannibal himself had stomped 30 years previous up Mont Royal.

Of course there is Monstetrack, a victim of it's own popularity.

No out-of-towner has ever won it.

Some have come very close.

If someone has a copy of this issue of Prophecy I'd like to get a hands on a copy - if only for my grandkids to laugh at their silly old 'Pop'.

Whenever a photographer tells you - 'Sure, you can get a copy of the photos, we'll send you one', they are dirty stinking USELESS liars.

Politeness will only get you so far.

Ride safe.

Dave, who helps out with the Sunday arvo women's training at DISC, has a red Llewellen. Lucky I wasn't standing on the track when I saw it or I would have left a big puddle of drool on the boards. Beautiful. Llewellens are lugalicious.
