Hard as lard
Many things in store in coming weeks, and the biggest for me has been riding.
Not interwebbing.
The thing I love most. Riding.
Might explain the slight vacuum of content this week.
First up -
Colnago and Vancouver.
Odd mix eh?
Win your way to CMWC Toronto, and please don't drool on the frames.

RACING
Far less a dirty term than t-t-training.
The Preston Mountain Classic is next weekend and I can't wait.
The hilliest Handicap around - Check out the course at Cycling Profiles.
Any race that a meal at the pub is included with entry is alright with me.
An apology
I suggested to Darrell McCulloch, the heart, soul, internal organs and brains of Llewellyn that he should include cheeky 'props' which can be seen in the bouyant finish of his chrome lugs.
Talk about a dressing down....
'CHROME!!! THEY'RE NOT CHEAP CHROME!'Once I'd calmed him down, he explain the toil in producing the most beautifully polished stainless lugs available to man and woman.
Here's the difference between cheap chrome (even Colnago's patina after a decade) and POLISHED Stainless steel.
I apologise for the confusion, but I'm sure I'm not the first to have marvelled at his frames admiring the contrasting finish of paint and mirrored surfaces.
Recipe for beauty
Darrel McCulluch's entree
File the lug
4 stages of sanding with assorted grits of paper
2 stage buffing with various compounds and mops
Add MANY hours of labour by hand
Resulting in ONE polished fork tip
Ready to enjoy.

and another happy customer on her Llewellyn love-boat.

Llewellyn .
Bloody amazing.
Cast your minds way back to THIS event...

Illegal if you are just another urban cyclist...
Glamorised if you are the UCI Sprint World Champion.

Thanks Tracko
Awww Tofu.
The pages of youth turn very quickly.

Vancouver, 2004.
i am tofu, ex-courier.
i quit my job yesterday and i don't plan on returning. i think i've been a courier for six years. or six winters, anyway.
during that time, i've broken three ribs, two fingers, a collar bone and a toe. not to mention all the blood i've lost or the times i've smashed my head off the ground. i've met, worked with, and raced with the best people in the world. i'm certain i've done enough Kms to have circumnavigated the earth at least twice.
i, like most couriers (i think), have thought of quiting for a long time now. it was yesterday, sitting in jet fuel for an hour or two, that i made the choice to quit. i don't regret becoming a courier, but it would be nice if i could go back to 21 again.
in lieu of road work, i will be in the shop full-time; machining, fabricating, chopping, cutting, welding, cranking, wrenching, fixing, etc.
right now, i am equal parts happy, nervous, poor, and optimistic.
interesting times.
and i still can't be beaten.
Amen, Little Tofu, who like his namesake is soft inside and out.
Happy Friday.
