Nothing buys happiness like a new pair of shoes

A smooth way to break the ice in an elevator... 'nice shoes'.

Like a truckie drawn to chrome, a shoe can have the same magnetic effect.

said the biggest change in cycling from his day to the modern era is the development of pedal technology, specifically energy transfer.

Another Eddie I know said 'eat more pies'.

The first thing that took me about BONT's A-One cycle shoe is how fast they LOOK.

Yep - carbon. One of the few places it get's a look in around here.

Wait for it - a ridiculous 250g on the scales.

Ridiculously stiff. One-piece design. No more sagging uppers after a couple of months. These shoes are designed to perform, and last.

The A-One model comes in the standard LOOK cleat (3 bolt) configuration, but it you want to utilise different systems, just DRILL the sole accordingly.

Want more ventilation, drill holes in the soles.

Sound crazy?

Wait till you put them in the oven.

I had my reservations about this.

Put my brand new BONTs in the oven at 70 C for 20 minutes.

Then stretch and mould them to my foot as desired?

You can do this procedure countless times, and you cannot damage the shoe unless you overheat them.

The shoes come out of the oven HOT - especially the buckle.

With some minor tweaks, the shoe fits even firmer, especially around the heel.

Something that even BONT haven't thought of - next time it's freezing cold out, pre-heat your shoes and keep them toasty for the entire ride!

Took a courier to think of that.

BONT

BONT is new to cycling, but their speed pedigree goes WAY back to 1974.

BONT is also Australian.

BONT shoes are hand made.

BONT are currently worn by the GB Track team, a selection of the Australian Track Team, with many other countries about to slip in, buckle up post Olympics.

Shoe fitting.

Forget worrying about what size you are - measure you're feet, and BONT will match the shoe accordingly.

If you've got one foot that is a size larger than the other, BONT will supply you with shoes to fit accordingly. 43/44 - No problem. Fully customised.

The nitty gritty.

Cycling is a beautiful sport.

The best thing ultimately is BONT's come in many colours, so you wont be stuck with the ol' black / white decision...

You can get a pair for your Black beast, your orange Llewellyn, your red Merckx, your blue Masi, your green Pogliaghi, or Lance-alikes will fall for the BT yellow.

Me?

Truth be told the 'pink' is baby pink, not 'hot pink' so I stuck with the uber-white model so I can go out clubbing in them post-race.

Where can you get them?

They've been doing this with ski boots, snowboard boots and ice skates for years. Fantastic though.. no more orthotics or hot spots!
