Rex Hunt charged over road-rage attack

FLAMBOYANT football broadcaster Rex Hunt has been charged with assault over allegations he bashed a cyclist in a road-rage attack in Melbourne.

Hunt is to face a preliminary hearing at Melbourne Magistrates' Court this month over a July incident that left a cyclist with a broken finger.

Hunt, 59, yesterday declined to say whether he would defend the charge.

"If I had anything to say I would have said it," he said.

It is believed Hunt, of Beaumaris, will apply to have the hearing adjourned as he will not be in Victoria at the time of the hearing.

The Herald Sun revealed in August that South Melbourne police were investigating Hunt over an alleged assault.

At the time Hunt said he wasn't concerned about the speculation surrounding him.

"I couldn't care less what people say or think about me," he said.

"Life is too precious to worry about what other people are saying or what they think."

It is believed the former VFL star and police officer was on his way to the Collingwood-Essendon clash at the MCG when the incident happened on Ormond Esplanade in Elwood - a popular bayside route for cyclists.

It is alleged he got out of his four-wheel-drive and assaulted a man after an earlier disagreement.

The cyclist was treated at Sandringham Hospital for a broken finger.

Hunt was interviewed days after the incident and was recently charged on summons.

It is the latest of several controversial incidents to dog the famed commentator and fishing guru over recent years.

On my travels I bumped into the whiz-kid - AZ and Eddie.

Back from Beijing and straight back into training.

Hope to see him in full flight at the TRACK WORLD CUP.

ACC2008: Azizul walks tall with sprint gold, Rizal wins time trial Print E-mail

Track cyclists Azizul Hasni Awang and Rizal Tisin rode into their way into Malaysian cycling history with superb golden performances in the Asian Cycling Championships at Nara Velodrome in Japan yesterday.

Size does not matter: Malaysia’s Azizul Hasni Awang gesturing as he waits for the prize-giving ceremony for the 200m sprint event in the Asian Cycling Championships at Nara Velodrome in Japan. On his left is South Korea’s Choi Lae-seon and China's Tang Qi.

The 19-year-old Azizul lived up to his billing as the Asian record holder by capturing the 200m sprint gold with a fine 2-0 win over Doha Asian Games silver medallist Choi Lae-seon of South Korea in the final.

The pint-sized Azizul, who hails from Dungun in Terengganu, thus became the first Malaysian and probably the only Asian to capture both prized sprint titles. He had successfully retained his Asian keirin title two days ago.

Azizul, who had beaten Tang Qi of China in similar clean fashion in the semi-finals, was delighted to live up to the expectations put on his shoulders in the absence of the more experienced team-mate Josiah Ng.

“I was psyching myself up for a tough battle in the final against the Asian Games silver medallist but I never expected it to be that easy. My coach (John Beasley) told us to wind down for the Asian championships because the Olympic qualifying period has ended. But I raced to win and I was determined to show what I am capable of. This is the best moment for me because I am now the holder of both the 200m sprint and keirin Asian titles,” said Azizul.

Queen of the Boards, AM sent this in.

Ooh... Lovely lilac

Brakes, freewheel and it's still gorgeous.

Reprezenting Shifterbikes in Germany - possesor of the nicest track frame I've ever had the pleasure of throwing a leg over.

Markus Mk I

Markus rode from Sydney to Melburn (the hilly way) on that same bike, and on the night he arrived in Melburn, raced the C.O.P. during the Prequel.

True grit.

From the saddle

New paint for the wall - the frame and a whole lot of polishing.

That Lambo is out and about in the CBD every day!Crazy-the owner must have money to burn and the engine usually does NOT sound happy about crawling about in traffic-kinda like hanging a Da Vinci in a dunny really.
